The Eternal Cycle of Life – Death and Rebirth

Writers such as Jonathan Weiner are providing interesting insight into human immortality, in his book entitled. Long for this World: The Strange Science of Immortality. He provides an account on how human are forecasting to overcome aging and transcend unto immortality. A comprehensive overview of the meaning of immortality, by reviewing the work of Aubrey David Nicholas Jasper de Grey, is illustrated.

Weiner says that people are always dying to be reborn. That forms the process of life; as human bodies aren’t finished products rather in a state of work-in-progress. They are constantly damaged, repaired, rejuvenated, restored and dismantled to heal, from time to time.

However, through the process of aging, damages accumulate and some aren’t repaired. The question is why our body really gets dismantled. According to the Darwinian notion on adaptation, aging is often referred to as simple accident. There are single-celled organisms that are immortal, cells simple keep on dividing. Example: JellyFish

Aubrey de Grey, is a fascinating scientist, devoting full effort in supporting the realisation of eternal youth, or at least to make reaching the age of 100 a child play.

Gerontologists are, however, working on a much smaller scale to accomplish eternal youth. Weiner found that some scientists are trying to find cures, for example, macular degeneration a common vision problem, such as Janet Sparrow at a Columbia University Researcher. One of the basic obstacles of aging is to get rid of debris that accumulates as we age. However, Weiner considers this as simple problems.

These types of researches are highly different from what Aubrey de Grey is trying to accomplish. Sparrow is concentrating on single diseases while Grey is focusing on the whole human body. One of his intents is to lengthen telomeres, a type of biological clock. – it might protect the whole body from various aging-diseases-.

Immortality Might Be Within Reach

Aubrey de Grey, explanation on overcoming aging and transcending unto immortality seems to be within our reach. If you think that the attitude of drinking beer will cause extreme aging, Grey might not be with you on that. He likes to consume ale but that shouldn’t make you doubt his word – of the possibility biological immortality -.

Aubrey de Grey predicts that the utopian future will radically transform life. Changing lifestyle, as normal longevity limits hit new height year on year, will become a regular mode of life.

However, Weiner is ostensibly allured to the notion that immortality might result to be boring. There are a number of writers and philosophers who share this same sentiment like Bernard Williams.

The very true might be that God’s kingdom is occurring now on earth itself. The famous gospel on the afterlife isn’t necessary after death.
