In order to understand how anti aging longevity affects sexual activity, we need to understand more about aging in general. Aging is quite a sinister progression, gradually affecting our biological being so very deliberately that we barely perceive the changes as they occur.
But occur they do, with a vengeance for many of us and it usually occurs in a sneak attack! There were numerous hypotheses about how this innate experience actually takes place in human beings. Many aging theories found their basis in the wear and tear including oxidation that happens in day to day life. Older generations of people, like older generations of mechanical equipment, often simply stop working and wear out.
There are really just two varieties of human aging:
• Chronological senescence [aging] basically means how many years you have managed to blow out your birthday candles.
• Biological Aging is refers to the alterations taking place with your physical body as your chronological age increases.
None of us can modify our chronological age, but we all have a unique tier of biological aging. Longevity and aging sciences are involved in the study of the biological procedures with aging. Discoveries are now finally being made that will actually slow down the process of aging. In certain cases they can actually reverse the influence of chronological aging.
Aging Theories
A number of theories regarding aging now exist. Amongst the more common theories largely received these days is that our age is inherently set in our genes. As the study of DNA and genetics begins to improve, this theory becomes important as we are better able to understand our own longevity. Of course, how we look after our own health and wellbeing will go a long way to maximizing our genetic circumstances.
It is becoming common knowledge among longevity researchers that elevated stress levels in people will age them much more quickly than normal over those without stress or anxiety in their lives. Stress has a profound effect on our hormonal level and when a disturbance of the production of hormones is the outcome, we suffer the effects of this through early onset age progression.
The wear and tear theory already mentioned fails to take into consideration our human body’s ability to restore itself and repair damaged tissue. Mechanical apparatus does not have this remarkable characteristic.
The free radical theory is rapidly becoming the hypothesis of choice among scientists as it pertains to our longevity. Understand that free radicals are created innately with all of us but when they go bad, they are dangerous. They cause substantial tissue damage by trolling for electrons from healthy cells and they rob the electrons from other molecular matter and in so doing, cause damage to the cells which cause a chain reaction in new chemicals and replicated cells. The damage begins the process of aging.
How Aging Effects Sex
As we grow older our body undergoes many modifications. The changes are physical as well a psychological. Sexually we begin to lose our snap, that vigor we have so come to understand and rely upon. In our younger years we get by on our unbridled enthusiasm and boundless energy. When we age this level of intensity tends to go the same way as our hair did. We lose the desire for the deed and in many cases the physical capability for it as well.
When we age we experience hormonal differences that are absolutely normal, and often really bothersome. Our sex drive is altered, sometime substantially. Often in men it can be a result of losing testosterone from aging and perhaps certain health ailments. The same goes for women where research has shown a reduction in sex urge due to age progression.
Maintaining Sexual Motivation
A very good method of sustaining one’s sex drive despite the aging process is to continue to have regular sexual activity. In the same way we keep our bodies physically fit through sound and consistent exercise, the same experience will benefit our sexual motivation. We can train our body to respond well to regular sexual activity. Either you use it or you lose it.
When two aging sexual partners understand the modified sexual behaviour taking place as they grow older means they will inevitably have a better, more fulfilling sexual connection. One must take into account the various medications they are consuming and just how sure they are of any medical conditions that could be responsible for sexual inconsistency. As one ages they may require a refresher on the effect of suitable foreplay and perhaps a rethink about sexual positioning to make the entire process more pleasurable for both partners. If all else fails there is always improvisation!
