Scientists have advanced significantly in the research on aging. It is on high time now to try to change knowledge gathered from aging research into medicine so that the aging population can benefit. This is what Jan Vijg, Ph.D, who is the chair of genetics and the Lola and Saul Kramer Chair in Molecular Genetics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University said together with a panel of 10 excellent aging experts.

These experts were assembled by a nonprofit organization, LifeStar Institute. This institute does educate and create awareness of problems associated with global aging. They do also encourage medical research aimed at both preventing and curing aging diseases. This was reported in July 14 issue of the Journal Science Translational Medicine.

The cost of the aging process is highly burdensome. There is medical and social cost that keeps on escalating for elders as they age year by year. The panel recommends that the U.S as well as other countries should start to take anticipatory initiatives that will change laboratory findings into a new form of aging medicine. This could be the sole solution to escape the advent of “a global aging crisis.”

The panel suggested that countries should start using their public health agencies to create awareness related to better lifestyles; encouraging longevity and healthy lives. The panel also stated that it is necessary to develop regenerative medicine and therapies that would restore the function and youthful structure in older people. Regenerative Medicine must have features to neutralize and repair cellular damage that occurs through aging.

Dr. Vijg says that there is a general misunderstanding associated to aging, people believe it is something that cannot be influenced just like the weather. However, what is fascinating is that during the recent 10 years the lifespan of different animals have been influenced; life span has been increased and healthiness as well. Adopting similar testing intervention in humans would be a good idea. It would make economic and medical sense.

In China there is a proverb that goes something like – a daily cup of tea keeps you out of the pharmacy. That may be pushing it somewhat but I am about to discuss the amazing health benefits you can achieve when drinking tea. Not just any tea mind you, oolong tea to be specific. Oolong tea is interconnected to green tea and black tea, since all three are derived from the same plant. Green tea is created from the dried leaves of the plant while black tea is made from the tea leaves undergoing a fermentation procedure. Oolong tea is made by partially fermenting the tea leaves before they are dried.

High cholesterol is a precursor to forms of heart disease and triglycerides and cholesterol [both are fat substances found in the bloodstream], while important to your overall health, can begin to accumulate within the lining of your arteries. They begin to get narrower and the blood flow becomes constrained. The result of this process can mean contracting numerous deadly illnesses such as coronary thrombosis or heart attack as well as strokes – having high cholesterol is a very dangerous thing.

Research in a number of nations has revealed how a number of tea varieties appear to effect the production of cholesterol building in the bloodstream by decreasing cholesterol in blood fats. Of the tea brands tested, oolong tea was responsible for the greatest outcome. Tea is loaded with polyphenols and the suspicion is that these polyphenols impede the absorption of cholesterol when it is in the digestive system. This in turn reduces the level of cholesterol within the blood stream. As enlightening as this is there is still more, confirmation was discovered that these polyphenols in tea reduce the propensity of blood to create thrombi, these are dangerous blood clots.

Being grossly overweight or just some measure of obesity is becoming far too commonplace in our modern society. When a person is suffering from obesity it is much easier for them to fall victim to numerous heart conditions and diseases. In today’s fast paced environment many individuals find it easier to exist on junk food rather than preparing a healthy diet plan. This ultimately means your body will pay the price by clinging to this added fat and become devoid of the numerous minerals, vitamins and antioxidants your body requires to function optimally. The Chinese believe consuming tea will aid in the reduction of fat deposited in a person’s tissue. Oolong tea specifically receives the most accolades for this breakthrough discovery, though most tea probably will have some form of fat fighting advantage.

Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners could easily refer to any number of successful situations where individuals have experienced weight reduction due to the consumption of two or three cups of oolong tea each day. When oolong tea is combined with various other herbal elements together they form the basis for specific teas that are marketed commercially for weight reduction.

One particular Chinese advertisement for a weight reducing tea states that consuming it for a period of 90 days can assist tea drinker dropping upwards of fifteen pounds of excess weight. Whether or not drinking tea will actually aid in such dramatic weight reduction remains to be seen but there is enough evidence that it should certainly form part of any diet or slimming program.

Quite a bit of study has been committed to the part that tea drinking plays in cancer prevention. For instance, from twenty five health related reports that were offered at a Hangzhou Conference, nearly one third of these had to do with research into cancer and oolong tea. The studies have revealed that there is definitely a correlation between oolong tea and how it combats cancer by impeding the development or functional activity of carcinogenic substances. It seems that the epigallo catechin gallate or [EGCC] lowers the incidence of unrestrained DNA duplication.

Another well known antioxidant is vitamin E; EGCC is thought to be approximately two hundred times more potent at disposing of free radicals from the system. One more manner that oolong tea could aid in the battle against cancer is by stemming mutation in cells. The powerful antioxidant characteristics of oolong tea might impede this mutation of healthy cell DNA that can lead them to becoming cancerous cells.

Meat that has been cured has in it nitrates which could be transformed into nitrosamines during the process of digestion. Nitrosamines have been proven to be a cancer causing agent. Tea is capable of inhibiting the function of nitrosamines that are responsible for causing any cancer according to a physician named Han Chi, also an associate professor at the Institute of Nutrition and Food Hygiene, linked to the Chinese Academy of Preventative Medicine. One study evaluated one hundred forty five varieties of tea and Dr Han and her associates actually rated green tea the most effectual, which had an inhibiting factor of ninety percent. This was immediately followed by oolong tea and black tea in order as the fermentation procedure eradicates the EGCC. When the oolong tea is fermented during the production phase, the EGCC quantity is reduced by roughly fifteen percent.

Centuries past in China, tea was a significant element in various immortality elixirs used often by Taoists. Even in this day and age, maybe just a resonance from the ancients, testimony is rampant that consuming oolong tea and other types are responsible for the old age acquired by many people. It is by no means a magic potion for immortality or youth but it does have many benefits that certainly add to a person’s longevity. It encourages optimal functionality of one’s body systems; it triggers the immune system, aids in optimized stomach function and assists in lowering the risk of developing heart disease. Tea also contains fluoride which helps build strong bones to prevent osteoporosis while it strengthens dental enamel.

Women who are pregnant or lactating should limit their oolong tea consumption to minimal quantities, it could also get in the way of MAO inhibitors and medications whose job is to thin the blood. When you consume oolong tea it could hinder the absorption process of any prescription medications you are taking. You have been reading about the benefits of oolong tea only and in no way should this information be substituted for medical advice from a qualified physician. You should always seek consultation with your primary health care professional prior to taking any new medication or herbal remedy or combining the same.

A research is suggesting that aging and wisdom go hand-in-hand. There is a particular molecule linked with learning, memory and aging.

The well-known anti-aging protein SIRT1 appears to have several roles. It does both reduce the aging effect as well as helping learning and memory to be enhanced. This study was published online in Nature the 11th of July.

SIRT1 is a protein from the family of Sirtuins. It supports the body to control its metabolism and gene activity related to biological processes associated with aging. In this study, Li Huei Tsai who is a neuroscientist and Howard Hughes Medical Institute Investigator at MIT, has shown that SIRT1 does also have an important contribution in assuring strong memory and learning activities, at least for the case of mice (study was conducted on mice).

The team did consider that SIRT1 had a significant role in facilitating brain activities, equally as resveratrol, which is an activator of sirtuins. For mouse, SIRT1 assured the survival of neurons that prevents Alzheimer’s disease to develop. Moreover, resveratrol did also significantly enhance the mice’s capacity to remember and learn. Earlier studies have also shown that resveratrol influence all the seven sirtuins present in various mammals. However, these recent studies had no clue what biological processes SIRT1 did influence.

Tsai and her team created genetically engineered mice, which had a low amount of SIRT1 present in their brains. Several memory and learning test was then conducted. It was found that the mice had difficulties in memorizing the precise position of objects in a submerged platform in a water maze. They were even unable to demarcate new and old objects were placed in the cage. In other words, they scored low in the memory test. Tsai said that limiting SIRT1 in these animals does definitely impair their learning abilities.

As the team investigated further into the brains of the mice having a low level of SIRT1, it was found that these mice had fewer links between neurons (links known as synapses). The lack of synapses triggered the disability of lacking long-term memory. The discovery helped in understating various molecules associated with memory. These mice with limited SIRT1 had also less of the protein known as CREB, which is present in their brains. This is a protein (CREB) which enforces the links between neurons.

As the team investigated further they found that SIRT1 controlled CREB levels via something known as RNA or rather microRNA-134 or miR-134. SIRT1 does usually team up with protein known as YY1 to reduce the generation of miR-134. However, with a limited amount of SIRT1, ultimately a higher volume of miR-124 was produced. The production of microRNA did thereafter influence RNA to diminish or even stop the production of CREB protein.

Valter Longo from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles says that this study confirms that SIRT1 is a master protein responsible for the regulation of cell function and metabolism. Currently, Longo is involved in a related study on SIRT1 and his findings on memory and learning will be published in the Journal of Neuroscience in 21st of July.

However, he mentioned that increasing the level of SIRT1 activity did not necessarily improve memory for mice. He also cautioned that the long-term effect of having a high level of SIRT1 is still uncertain. In a previous research published by Longo, he concluded that increasing the level of SIRT1 activity had negative effects on neurons.

Paolo Sassone-Corsi who is a molecular biologist at the University of California, Irvine says that Tsai’s study has demonstrated a new pathway. Paolo said that “Now you can see a new piece of the horizon that wasn’t there before. It’s really exciting.” It can also significantly help in other studies on memory and learning.

Few things are a certainty in this life, actually very few, but one thing we can absolutely count on is the fact that we are all going to get older and eventually we will die. The mortality part of that statement is definitely a certainty, regardless of how hard science tries to make us all immortal. As for the aging aspect of it, we are able to do some things that will slow that inevitability down. Man has been trying to weasel his way out of perishing since he first speared his first boar.

That is a few million years of trying to avoid death and during that time; man has done almost everything he could to hasten the grim reaper, even inventing new ways to die. Luckily, while pursuing ways not to die, he was also looking into methods of at least not dying too early. Still, the search to slow aging has gone on for nearly as long as that quest for immortality. Both are ancient stories.

These old stories have taken on new levels of pursuit in the last several decades. The quest to slow the aging process has made more of an immediate impact than the race to immortality. The simple fact is that it is easier to look and feel younger than to stop an evolutionary and biological certainty. Some strides have been made in the anti aging business for instance cosmetic surgery procedures, anti wrinkle serums, healthier diets, exercise regimens and supplements that keep us fit and healthy.

All lead gradually to greater longevity and yet we still have such a long way to go. So much still needs to be understood about aging and what factors control it. So many things have influence over the process of aging like ecological issues such as pollution and environmental contaminants, economic circumstances, lifestyle choices and behavioral factors, some beyond our control. Genetics plays a role, though not as large a part as once thought. Then there is just plain blind luck of the draw.

The average United States citizen these days can expect to live well into their upper seventies or lower eighties and women as a rule have better longevity than men. This is quite a jump from the days when America was still a colony! In the colonial years the average American lived until age forty five and luck had a whole lot to do with that benchmark.

Longevity is a phenomenon of modern times, according to S. Jay Olshansky, a biologist and demographic expert from Chicago and the University of Illinois. He says the largest number of humans ever born perished prior to the age of ten, usually due to infectious diseases. Now that is at once a frightening and astounding statement.

The survival rate has been increased in significant ways, and specifically for the younger people, by improving sanitation and discovering new medicines like penicillin to fight off infections. Childhood vaccinations for numerous diseases have assisted the drop in mortality dramatically. The thing is it just is not that simple to add another seventy or eighty years onto the life of a seventy or eighty year old individual, according to Olshansky.

Though there have been some considerable gains in life span in the last hundred or so years, novel work being done on the advance of aging to what is considered the ceiling limit of one hundred twenty years old probably will not occur in the near future. There is some promise though and there is a lot of money being spent so anything is possible, just not too likely anytime soon. Here is what we have for fighting aging at this point:

Hormone Treatment and Vitamins

The anti aging business in America is very big business indeed with sales recorded at better than fifty billion dollars per annum, mostly due to purchases of dieting supplements, hormones, vitamins and minerals.

Antioxidants are also making up a good deal of the popular vitamin supplement trend these days with sales of vitamin C and E doing well. Antioxidants are said to be capable combatants against free radicals, essentially these are unbalanced molecules thriving within our bodies that can be very damaging when left unchallenged. Antioxidants challenge these invaders. Left unchecked, free radicals will cause rapid aging, cellular deterioration, and organ harm, eventually leading to cancer and other deadly diseases.

More research needs to be completed on antioxidant effectiveness as does study involving the effective capability of hormone treatments such as testosterone, estrogen, DHEA and HGH or human growth hormone. Many medical practitioners prescribe these to their patients in their declining years as a means of warding off the effects of aging and for treating age related illness and conditions and modest successes have been observed. The problem that exists is more research is required – with the likes of the American Medical Association stating that hormone supplementation is risky, lacking evidence of success and perhaps hazardous to the health of the recipient.

Restricting Caloric Intake

Since the 1930’s, researchers have understood that a nutritious but limited diet will increase the longevity of certain living organisms, specifically lab rodents, some monkey species right down to the most minuscule yeast life form. This has been documented but it still remains a mystery whether or not this restriction of calories will have the same effect on humans. Various University research teams across the United States are in the midst of carrying out a new investigation to gather some practical data to evaluate its effectiveness in people.

Those involved in the study as participants are going to consume one quarter less food than they would eat normally and it will be calculated in calories for a period of two years. Investigators will closely observe the contributors to establish if the lower calorie diets are responsible for any actual health advantages that could be linked to an extended life. It will also be interesting to see if these study volunteers can actually remain on such a rigid and limited diet for any length of time, most are guessing the majority will not be able to.

Hyperbaric Treatments

This concept of anti aging involves maintaining a routine of turns inside a chamber that has various levels of pressurized oxygen that is suppose to energize and revitalize the body while it enhances healing and gets rid of toxicity within the body responsible for accelerated aging.

More commonly utilized as a treatment for healing wounds due to reduced circulation of blood, it has also proven effective as a means of treating carbon monoxide poisoning victims. The effectiveness of hyperbaric therapy as a way of fighting the effects of aging is at best, uncertain and worst, a waste of time. Some experts believe that the reverse may be true and it could literally speed the course of aging by rallying the formation of free radical amalgams.

Resveratrol

An innate substance found in certain plants and their fruits, resveratrol has been hyped and promoted to no end by the media and medical mouthpieces as the next great cure all. No doubt that it has some amazing properties but enough already with the overhyped successes and cures for this and that disease or condition. Resveratrol is found in red wine in larger amounts than white and those who sing its praises say it negates age associated issues in animals, but there is a fly in the ointment. Once again while it has shown its effectiveness in worms, fruit flies and even fish, it has been less successful in lab rodents. As for humans, many of the healthful advantages of resveratrol have yet to be verified.

Further Anti Aging Options

There are other things we can do to see that we have a happier, more satisfying life and revel in it with some longevity while we are at it. Unfortunately there is no simple anti aging pill we can take on the horizon but we do not have to have a snooze inside an oxygen chamber either. You may even know some of these methods as sage advice based on firsthand experience: You can start eating more nutritiously, get enough physical activity, manage your stress better and get adequate sleep. There is no need to burn yourself out with exercise but raising your heart rate for twenty or thirty minutes a day will do wonders for your health, well being and anti aging efforts.

Numerous investigations have revealed that people, who have a higher education, astonishingly live longer than those people with less learned knowledge. Education is more of a positive longevity factor than both race and income level. Therefore, the better educated you are, the longer you will be around to put it into good practice.

It has also been verified that keeping up your personal associations with others both for socializing, employment and for worship can aid your longevity. Those folks who have plenty of likeminded friends or remain active within social network environments are just inclined to last longer than those who are disconnected and anti social. The former are also presumably experiencing more joy and satisfaction while they actively participate in their extended life and superior health.

It seems that the mighty mushroom has done it again. Ganoderma extract is comes from the Reishi mushroom and it is a particularly potent component, according to traditional Chinese medicine practitioners since it has been in use for many hundreds of years. There was a period when this element of the mushroom was in great demand but was also extremely rare so it was only made available to royalty at the time. Fortunately today, this uncommon “toadstool” is available in larger quantities for the masses due to our advanced technological skills and growing capabilities and facilities.

Ganoderma has many amazing benefits for an individual’s health, starting with an innate ability to aid with stress to treating common conditions like fatigue and an inability to sleep. The ancient Chinese used this extract as a means of attaining longevity and to power up their immune systems, much like it is used in modern times. One’s immunity is critical to overall health and the properties found in ganoderma are renowned for this healthful advantage. A poor immunity function leaves a person open to many infectious contagions that can do untold immediate harm and over time.

The ganoderma extract has been used on patients who are undergoing cancer treatments such as chemotherapy, which can be quite hard on the recipient. Chemo treatment has comprehensive negative reactions on a person’s body is ravages their immune system. These adverse reactions include fatigue, falling hair, nausea, no appetite; all of which have been reduced to a great extent when the patient is taking ganoderma extract. Since ganoderma is an immunity enhancer, it is effective for any illness or condition that zaps one’s ability to fight infection. It is for this reason that it is also prescribed for HIV and AIDS patients.

It has also displayed an ability to alleviate the dismal effects of allergies and also help some skin conditions such as acne. It works to fight against the damaging advance of aging from harmful rays from the sun when it is used on a continual regimen. Many users claim it has improved the age spots on their skin.

There is uniqueness to this traditional medicine and its effectiveness seems to know no limits since it also aids in easing particular liver dysfunctions, lung ailments and even heart problems have been improved. Another very interesting reaction from taking ganoderma extract is that it can reduce hypertension in people and also impede the growth of tumors. It has also been noted that ganoderma will improve the body’s general blood circulation.

Ganoderma certainly sounds too good to be true and one may wonder what it is that makes this natural remedy seem so unbelievable. The healing effects of the extract are believed to be a result of this exceptional mushroom substance containing complex carbohydrates called triterpeniods as well as a litany of amino acids, proteins, polysaccharides and triterpenes [or ganoderic acids]. This is quite an impressive list of ingredients in a single extract and little wonder it has been featured by traditional Chinese medicine practitioners for so long.

Ganoderic acids mimic antihistamines within our body and really do assist those suffering from allergens. Triterpenes leave a harsh taste in the mouth which has an effect on the extract as a whole; however, the antihistamine efficiency is rated based on the amount of bitterness. Ganoderma extract is a singularly extraordinary product and is still referred to in some regions as the king of herbs. It has a positive effect on the functioning of the liver that helps to detoxify by ridding the body of toxicity more efficiently.

Our bodies are bombarded by toxins through our diets and particularly through environmental causes like smog and water pollution. These contaminates are the reason many feel an all encompassing feeling of fatigue and exhaustion, usually accompanied by an inability to get a peaceful sleep. A person might also feel a lack of connectivity with their cognitive function and have trouble remaining attentive, while great pressure is focused on the immune system that sets the stage for all varieties of Infectious conditions and illnesses.

This substance has been utilized as a successful diuretic when a person is plagued by water retention and also as an expectorant for lung congestion; it is highly sought after as a cold remedy. Since it has an innate sedative capacity it is used as an effective non habit forming sleep aid. Modern science and medicine has yet to look into the many unique traditional medicines known as curatives in the Far East for centuries but ganoderma is making some headway into western society as people look for assistance in alternative treatments.

It has been called a miracle cure by some, but for anyone who is concerned about their health and is interested in giving their systems careful attention, this powerful herbal remedy should be explored. Many in the west have no knowledge of the dramatic capability of ganoderma extract, unlike many Asian cultures where it has gained prominence. It is used as a therapy for a multitude of conditions and has proven itself extremely valuable as an innate curative.

Ganoderma is harvested from the bark of trees and is a very bitter mushroom taken by many in Asia for its proven healthful qualities and ability to improve one’s chances for increased longevity. This is not a mushroom derivative that is promoted for use in food preparation though; it should only be used for its medicinal value.

Ganoderma is available in various formulations starting with a liquid extract that is quite popular, it can be found in capsule form for oral administration, and as well it is increasingly more accepted taken in tea or coffee. The main advantage from taking ganoderma is that is it is extremely potent as a means of augmenting personal immunity and as a purifier. It can be an amazing curative for numerous areas of the body and acts as a wonderful therapeutic prophylactic.

For people who are progressing in age, ganoderma is a wonderful natural means of slowing the advancement of aging features. It can help reduce the amount of tissue degeneration and will revitalize cellular structure. The anti aging characteristics of ganoderma are many and it is absolutely laden with antioxidants, something our bodies need to continually replenish.
One of the reasons why it is so effective for controlling heart problems is its effectiveness at regulating safe levels of cholesterol. As more mainstream medical professionals begin to recognize the power of ganoderma, they are promoting it as a means of combating some types of cancer at their earliest stages.

The main ingredient in ganoderma works effectively to develop better blood circulation, while it promotes better energy and endurance. It can aid in sustaining proper function of a person’s metabolism and improve chemical imbalances within the body. It is a natural remedy so it can be utilized in differing quantities to promote increased health and detoxification of your internal systems with no known adverse reactions.

One more immense advantage to taking ganoderma at this specific time is turning out to be reasonably more affordable for the masses. It was not that long ago when this substance could only be found in parts of Asia and because of how it is grown or produced, quantities were restricted. Supply and demand meant that the cost was prohibitive too many except the most well to do. Today, the product is being produced in controlled environments like labs where they cultivate and harvest the fungus in a far more industrious manner.

So, due to this increased efficiency with production, prices are dropping and it is becoming more popular as a natural curative. Before you begin to invest your money in this or any new natural product you should do some research on your own and investigate that which you are about to ingest into your body. Discuss it with your primary healthcare provider as well. You want to make sure there are no contraindications or reactions with any drugs you might already have been prescribed. With medical clearance you could be on your way to greater, more vigorous health and a longer life.

In Chinese, the definition of this mushroom is “the herb of spiritual potency” – it has also been called the “mushroom of immortality”!

According to the June 2010 issue of ScienceDaily, the term “robust” can be described as an adjective that is appreciatively applied to specific vintage wines, however when describing pathogens and viruses, robustness is a property that may not be so attractive. It suggests microbes that are drug resistant and other superbugs that can cause havoc while researchers try to deal with novel pandemics. What are the ways to undercut this robustness?

The American Institute of Physics (AIP) recently published a study in the journal Chaos. The study examined organisms’ ability to survive and sustain themselves when faced with varied types of change. C. Brandon Ogbunugafor accompanied by his team, both form the Yale University, had a look at new as well as existing data in order to be able to determine the strengths and weaknesses of this study of robustness as a recognised concept and whether it could be applied in infectious systems. They discovered that while one must be cautious during the definition and application of the premise of robustness, the concept of infectious disease was filled with examples where additional application might prove to be useful. While introductory, the work of Doctor Ogbunugafor could indeed have far-reaching implications, taking into consideration the fact that the world is actually witnessing a rising amount of drug-resistant strains of disease.

Doctor Ogbunugafor explains that they believe that advance application of the robustness concept, along with experiments that are designed to examine it in other systems, might help in the way we study and deal with infectious diseases of varied types. Moreover, he adds that he finds this quite exciting, for it unveils fertile ground to apply an exciting concept in the context of infectious diseases that is greatly relevant to day-to-day life.

While there still remain a number of questions that are unanswered, the researchers are positive that if this concept is applied it could aid in the prediction of the way organisms evolve. Eventually, Ogbunugafor forecasts that the application of the concept of robustness could act as a “Rosetta Stone”, to predict evolution, which might represent the subsequent paradigm shift in evolutionary biology. He says that maybe by comprehending the way robustness manifests in illnesses such as malaria and influenza, for instance, we will be more able to forecast drug resistant variants even before they arise and as a result always stay a step forward the enemy in the omnipresent arms race between human beings and the microbes that threaten our health.

For the majority of us, we need to see results quickly or we are at risk of losing interest in what we are doing. Western cultures are particularly impatient, wherewithal not one of our strong points. Such is the case with prescription medicines, pharmacists must remind us to finish the entire quantity of the drug regardless of how we are feeling. When it comes to other forms of curatives and traditional formulas we also want to see immediate results. At the very least we would like to know approximately when we will begin to see some positive effects from what it is we are taking.

Take green tea for instance. The health benefits of this herbal tea have been endlessly promoted probably more than any other herbal therapies as it has taken hold in western society. When something receives this amount of endorsement, when we use it we hope to see something positive result from it. Western populations are not only impatient but skeptical as well; knowing there are many ruses that are around.

Green tea has been marketed as a favorable remedy for many health maladies and it is more available now than ever so let’s look at some of those therapies. Green tea has been hyped as a treatment for weight loss; it regulates diabetes, thwarts cancer, arthritis, aids in digestion and so many more health conditions. But can one therapy, a traditional herbal remedy no less, really live up to its hype? Absolutely!

Populations in the Far East have known this for centuries; that green tea can deliver maximum health benefits and significant life extension to those who consume it regularly. The results are not guaranteed immediately and in point of fact you will not notice any remarkable difference in the short term. This herbal method takes its time to bring any marked healthful benefits to your system.

Green tea works hand and hand with your metabolism. It augments and regulates the blood and circulatory system. A primary health benefit of drinking green tea or GT supplements is the dramatic elevation in your body’s power production it delivers. Investigative data reveals that green tea raises your metabolism by as much as four percent of its common rate. This kind of noticeable therapeutic punch happens as a result of repeated consumption of the tea; while conversely, weight loss associated with green tea is something that progresses over time through a gradual process.

For anyone who is considering a regimen of drinking green tea or ingesting it in supplement form, they need to understand the effectiveness of green tea, the benefits to your health, are reached through a steady ongoing process. Also, it needs to be clear that the effectiveness of green tea is not immediate, but rather reached slowly over time. Do not be fooled into believing that this slow progress in order to see healthy benefits is not worth the wait. There are huge benefits over the long haul when consuming green tea; this is where patience becomes a virtue.

Perhaps green tea is already a part of your daily routine, having replaced coffee or perhaps even black tea as the beverage of choice. Black tea also has some therapeutic value as a remedy for various ailments but it also has some drawbacks. Better to continue it in moderation and add green tea to the menu. Drinking certain teas also have a remarkable capability as an aid to weight loss, green tea in particular.

Green Tea Assists With Weight Loss

Asian cultures have been drinking green tea and other varieties for the health advantages and as an aid to longevity. Green teas assistance as a diet aid is much less celebrated. When you consume green tea it acts as a natural appetite depressant, therefore, assisting the recipient to decrease their craving for snacking when they are not supposed to be eating.
Many dieters will drink coffee for the same reason between meals but they will still be adding useless calories, as a rule because they include a pastry as well! Drinking green tea instead is not only invigorating, but acts as a healthy alternative to drinking coffee. Consuming green tea has also been proven to be a fat buster – in the sense that it slows down the absorption of fat, while giving you an additional energy increase. It will also refresh your breath [the opposite of coffee] and is known to safeguard against dental decay.

When you consume tea as a supplement or beverage you are aiding your immune system due to the antioxidant enhancement you are supplying your body with. It helps fight back against free radical cellular damage at the molecular level and will actually slow the advancement of aging, consequently, increasing your life expectancy.

The only adverse reaction from drinking green tea, any tea, would be the caffeine it contains. Still though most tea contains only one third the amount found in coffee. Caffeine’s general effects are troublesome to people who are not used to it. You may feel jittery, experience restlessness, insomnia or “digestive” concerns if you overload with it. Green tea can also affect your iron content since it is known to block the absorption of iron. This means if you are a nursing mother or expecting you would be advised to restrict your consumption levels of tea.

Green tea has proven itself effective as an aid to dieters and helps slim people down when they are increasingly being challenged by their will power.

Wu Li The Premium Traditional Green Tea Remedy

Wu Li green tea is a Chinese Green tea. Tea in general has been touted for its healing properties as both a beverage and as a supplement. We have looked at the astounding health advantages when taking green tea in supplemental form or as a drink. There are many novel varieties of green tea about these days with tea producers labeling everything they manufacture as a variety of tea to some degree.

Wu Li green tea though is specifically Chinese herbal tea – produced in China. As an herbal remedy is has been used traditionally by many in the culture as a source of human longevity and has seen remarkable success for its medicinal properties as well as triumphs. It offers huge health benefits that provide notable benefits to the bodies of those who consume it.

Wu Li green tea is revitalizing and surprisingly light, highly regarded for the good health it provides to those who imbibe, most particularly the Chinese themselves. The experts in traditional Chinese medicine who work with Wu Li green tea expound about the effectiveness of Wu Li as a means of thwarting cancer. Many drink it as a means of losing weight due to its innate ability to reduce craving. Wu Li also is known for its ability to fight tooth decay.

Wu Li Green Tea Safeguards Teeth

Our dental health is becoming more important as scientists discover the relation between oral health and our overall level of health. It certainly plays a part in our digestion, allowing it to function at its best. Our teeth make up the initial steps of our digestive tract, grinding our food into manageable quantities at the outset of the intricate process. Wu Li green tea [or all green tea for that matter – though Wu Li is more effective] is a primary element in aiding the longevity of our teeth.

When researchers investigated the benefits of Wu Li green tea it was revealed that when you drink it there is marked improvement in oral health as it improves the density and life span of teeth. The data clearly shows how teeth are enhanced in those individuals who drink Wu Li green tea regularly. The important element found in green tea that assists in maintaining healthy teeth is called Catechin. Catechin in the Wu Li green tea simply prevents and halts tooth decay while also eradicating a menacing bacterium found in the oral region, streptococcus mutans which leads to decay and plaque accumulation.

Astonishingly, Wu Li green tea and other varieties contain fluoride, hyped over the years as a formula that maintains healthy and strong teeth. In a single cup of well prepared green tea there is 0.3 to 0.5 mgs of fluoride. It is great for our tooth enamel and acts as a defense against oral acid deterioration. This is a huge finding for those involved in the promotion of green tea for its health advantages. We should try and consume between 3 to five cups of green tea throughout our day as part of our course of liquid refreshment. Wu Li green tea still needs to be prepared properly for the full benefits; the scientific and medical community is doing its part investigating and evaluating the evidence.

Wu Li has been classified by many as the finest quality of green tea available as it is used in traditional Chinese medicine it has a quality reputation for improving health. Wu Li Green Tea can lower cholesterol and reduce hypertension in people who drink it and it does so extremely effectively from all reports. Wu Li assists in boosting the immune functionality of the body and specifically in a supplement form. It is consumed by many in eastern cultures who place a high value on their health and well being. It is used as both a preventive herbal therapy and as a curative. Similar to ordinary green tea, it will aid in the reduction of stress while slowing and regulating the aging process.

Company claims that there are specially developed products that are packed with antioxidants

Zurich – according to the world’s largest producer of chocolate, it may have come up with a chocolate bar that could assist in the fight against wrinkles as well as slowing down the aging process, thus making it the most-up-to-date food group to tap the taste for a better quality of health.

Studies that have been carried out by Barry Callebaut have shown that, consuming 20 grams (0.755 oz) of this specially developed chocolate that is packed with antioxidants, or flavanols, everyday may help in preventing wrinkles and making the skin look more radiant by enhancing elasticity and boosting hydration.

Consumers are increasingly becoming more health conscious and aware of the nutritional value of what they consume, and Barry Callebaut’s claims has come in as food giants like Danone and Nestle are also pushing into the arena of healthy eating.

Previously, dark chocolate has been connected with numerous health benefits, like assisting in lowering blood pressure or bringing a reduction in the probability of strokes due to its high content of antioxidants.

In an interview, Hans Vriens, the Chief Innovation Officer of Barry Callebaut, stated that the Swiss group had come up with a preservation method to conserve the flavanols that are found in cocoa beans throughout the chocolate-making process, thus allowing them to make a bar that is more concentrated in flavanols.

Vriens declares that while chocolate and health seem to be incongruent, it is however a very fascinating proposition; if a person can eat something that he actually likes and is at the same time good for his health then the proposition is noteworthy. Usually when one thinks about making food becoming healthier, chocolate is most likely to find itself at the very bottom of the list.

Pollution, smoking, a lack of sleep and caffeine all help in the creation of free radicals which are able to damage healthy cells in the body, thus accelerating the aging process.

Jon Cox, analyst of Kepler Capital Markets, said that exists a big body of evidence that points to the fact that flavanols actually slow down the damage caused by free radicals. He advances that food manufacturing companies are trying to leverage wellness and health into numerous products and there is surely a market for chocolate in regards to wellness and health. We have previously witnesses its success in dairy products with products such as Unilever’s Benecol and Danone’s Actimel.

The functional market for chocolate comprises of diet and organic chocolate. This market is currently seeing a double-digit growth, effortless surpassing the mere 1 or 2 percent growth that is actually being seen in the remaining of the chocolate market, Cox stated.

However, some experts remain doubtful regarding the positive effects that flavanols could have on skin.

In accordance with the Professor of the Human Nutrition, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Richard Hurrell, there exists significant proof that cocoa flavanols have indeed a positive impact on the blood flow. They can bring a reduction in the blood pressure which in turn can have a positive impact on cardiovascular diseases.

There is an agenda full of various conventional anti-aging drugs. Many of the diverse drugs available on the market aren’t new. They have been present for decades and have been slightly underused. However, the key aspect of this article is to shed light on various types of drugs. Medicine does not need to come in a capsule or tablet, proper diets can have an equally all-encompassing treatment for anti-aging.

Fish Oil

The power of fish oil is another conventional drug that people tend to underestimate. According to an Italian Study carried out by the European Society of Cardiology in 2008, it was found that omega-3 fatty acid is even better than Rx cholesterol-reducing medicine. The research demonstrated that fish-oil supplement was superior to Crestor, a well-known cholesterol-reducing drug, normally taken by patients who suffer from chronic heart failure. This is one example but there exist a dozen of other natural treatments that are just as effective as typical drugs. The windfall gain of natural treatment is that they have less side-effect.

Conventional Medicine

The worse drugs available on the market are frequently those related to chronic consumption. These include medicine consumed by patients suffering from headaches, high blood pressure, weight gain, high cholesterol and amidst others. The weight loss drugs have an underprivileged history record with rampantly a great deal of side effects. As early as in 1977, studies did already pinpoint that well balance diets with fruits and vegetables could have favourable impacts on blood pressure. The problem with health care is that we tend to treat only symptoms and ignore the key cause. The likely outcome is that the disease only worsens. It is a fact that a symptom of a disease is only revealed while the body tries to heal itself from the disease. If we try to treat the symptoms we might stop the body’s natural process to restore our health.

It is known that medication tend to lead to an imbalance in our system. The worse is that we do not even know how some medication operates within our body. The controversy of medicine is that we might believe that the drug is making the body a favour while, in reality, it might simply be masking the underlining cause of the disease. So, it may be leading to additional damage to our biochemistry. Some medicine can therefore, be deadly. They might offer a short-term gratification at the expense of long-term health predicaments.

The drug industry is extensively huge and profitable. There is an infinite volume of vested interested geared to keep one sick for the sake of continuous purchase of some particular medications. These internal policies and practices by medical companies can easily be de-masked. For example, pharmaceutical companies do usually spend at least twice as much on advertisement than on research and development. The core focus is to sell and not to save life.

Drugs might sometime be life-savers. However, the core essence is to inject nutrients and healthy ingredients, which protect one from diseases.

Weakness of Drugs

“Mercola”, is a popular health site that shed light on major secret statistics on a medicine or rather “number need to treat” (NNT) figures. Clinical trials are geared to analyse whether drugs can make people better. However, number needed to treat statistics focus on how many individuals will have to consume the drug to prevent a disease (like heart attack or re-apparition of cancer). For instance, some drugs might have a NNT of 50 for heart attack. This would mean out of every 50 people taking the drug, the drug might only prevent one of these individuals from getting it. It is definitely a low number, and pharmaceutical companies make their best to silence these poor statistics.

However, the NNT is usually updated frequently. It does also show different figures depending on research institutions and techniques used. The fact that out of 50 people may be only one will have health benefits while the other 49 will have no health benefits portrays a negative image on drug companies. So, these figures must be kept secret or complicated to prevent the general public from understanding it.

Many cholesterol drugs are blatantly showing controversial NNT in comparison to embellished advertisements. The potential side-effects of cholesterol drugs are muscle weakness, liver sabotage, cognitive impairment enclosed with a list of others. Yet, these pills are often touted as marvelous capsules that can cut the risk of heart attack by above 30 percent.

Recently, Business Week conducted a research on this topic. They used the clinical numbers advertised in Pfizer’s own newspaper ad for a particular cholesterol-lowering drug, Lipitor. Lipitor was said to slash the risk of heart attack by as much as 36 percent. However, above the 36 percent there was an asterisk. The asterisk contained some vital information. It was stated that in a clinical study 3 percent of the patients taking a placebo or sugar pills had a heart attack in comparison to only 2 percent for those taking Lipitor.

The data reveals that out of a group of 100 people consuming the drug for a period of 3 years and 4 month – 3 individuals in the placebos and only 2 people taking Lipitor had a heart attack. The NNT for this case is very low. If one hundred people take Lipitor for above 3 years it can prevent one patient from a heart attack. This analysis is based on the figure provided by Pfizer. It should be noted that the study was funded by the industry so the real statistics can even be lower than suggested. There are many cholesterol-lowering drugs that have a NNT figure of 250 and above for 5 years.

Drugs Isn’t the Key for Longevity

America is today the most powerful consumer of drugs. Its population consumes up to 50 percent the world’s prescribed medicine. The remaining 95 percent of the world population consumes the other half. If drugs would have been the key for longevity and health than Americans would probably rank first (longevity). However, this is not the case, they ranked in a pitiful forty-second place on longevity amidst countries of the world. They are practically behind most of the developed countries. These statistics tend to prove that prescribed drugs cannot help one to circumvent lifestyle-related diseases.

The real cure is to treat the cause and not merely the symptoms of an illness or disease. Drugs should be taken when necessary. However, chronic consumption of drugs should not be taken, unless advised by a professional physician.

Exceptional Therapies for Cancer

The Maximum Life Foundation expects that within a decade technological and medical advancement will render our actual ways of treating illness barbaric. There are astounding findings and breakthroughs being achieved every hour. It is even possible that while you are reading this article another dozen of new medical technologies are implemented for the first time.

Scientists from Purdue University have already developed some type of miniature delivery vehicles with the potential to transport anticancer therapeutic agents immediately to infected cells. This is a promising technology that may one day cure various chronic diseases. Another miracle is nanoparticles that are being developed by MIT researchers. They have been able to create a Trojan horse-like cancer medicine, with the potential to burrow into a tumor. It also closes the entry once it has burrowed into the tumor and detonates a killing dose of anti-cancer toxins. This leaves all the healthy surrounding cells completely unharmed.

Archive Techniques

Medical science is currently unsophisticated in many ways, especially in treating life-threatening diseases. The actual method can be compared to using a grenade to kill all the cockroaches in a house. Physicians have for too long solely relied on brute force techniques to fight heart disease, cancer, diabetes and others. Fortunately, biomedical science is emerging to give doctors intelligent and sophisticated tools to battle against diseases. We are soon reaching a stage where fighting the symptoms of a disease is only the beginning. We do now understand the mechanism of most disease but curing techniques are still in development phases. For example, we are using the same method to treat cancer like those used some 30 years ago. The most widespread treatments are to burn, radiate or cut out the cancerous region. The negative effect of harming cancer cells like this is that the patients might suffer from intense collateral damage.

Newer Techniques to Treat Cancer

There are, nevertheless, some more modern techniques emerging to treat cancer cells. These treatments focus on eradicating cancer cells from within where they breathe and live. The approach of attacking the very molecules that assure the proliferation and growth of cancerous cells is deemed more effective. A particular enzyme known as cyclooxegenase II (COX-2), is often generated in large quantity by cancerous cells. The enzyme COX-2 is used by cancer cells to accelerate their metabolism and thereby facilitating tumors to grow at a faster rate. It is fortunate that COX-2 is present in rheumatoid arthritis cases as well. It has allowed the developed of drugs, which is nowadays very beneficial for cancer patients. Moreover, these drugs are known as COX-2 inhibitors and are often only provided through medical prescriptions.

To mention a few Products

1.	Celebrex,*
2.	Vioxx, *
3.	Lodine XL and nimesulide,

*Celebrex and Vioxx have been an associated cause to the death of patients. Lodine XL and nimesulide are considered to be safer.

Natural COX-2 inhibitors

1.	Curcumin supplements

There is also another category of proteins that exist in great quantity in cancer cells. This type of protein is known under the RAS oncogene family. It is an enzyme which is involved in the usual signalling mechanism responsible for the reproduction of cells. An over-expression of this protein increases the level of signalling and cells starts to rampantly divide and grow out of control.

A particular type of cholesterol-lower drugs has proven to halt the RAS proteins from producing excessive signalling. The class of medicine is known as “Statins”. An example is Lovastatin, which is known to reduce the speed at which cancer cell proliferates.

There is another drug in clinical testing geared to handicap the ability of cancer cells to grow. For a cancer cell to grow it needs a consistent supply of blood like any other cell. Tumors have this ability to foster new blood vessels geared to feed themselves. The new class of medicine stops the growth of new blood vessels and forces the tumor to starve. The drugs that are actually in clinical testing are known as endostatin and angiostatin.

Life Style Treatment against Cancer

A study conducted on 30 patients with cancer showed that adopting for a healthy lifestyle with a low-fat diet, exercising moderately and to try to decrease their level stress was a treatment against cancer. It was found that within 3 months, 24 out of 30 patients experienced an ample increase in their level of telomerase. This showed that a healthy lifestyle can increase the cell-protecting telomeres. Telomeres are protective ends of our chromosomes. However, these enzymes do naturally shorten. It is only the telomerase enzyme that can act to restore the length of telomeres. The study showed that healthy habits increased the quantity of telomerase and thus increased the protective abilities of cells.

A Healthy Life with the Hope for New Technology

There is a possibility for radical life-extension technologies to revolutionize. The idea is not to live longer but to stay young indefinitely. Some of these factors will be within our control and other will simply depend on the latest anti-aging medicine weapons available. However, to increase our odds and chances of living forever, a healthy lifestyle is essential. There are also other fundamental key aspects determining our likelihood towards eternal life. Like how up-to-date and familiar we are with new technology.

The “first part of anti-aging medicine” focused on problems related to blood tests of an individual. This article will describe fully hormone replacement therapy related to anti-aging medicine.

Overview of commonly used test by anti-aging physicians:

1.	Body Fat percentage
2.	Urinalysis performed annually to verify diabetes, infection warning signals or kidney disease.
3.	Hydration
4.	Fat-free mass
5.	Body Mass Index (BMI)
6.	Basal metabolic rate

There are definitely other tests available, yet these are the universally used ones. It is essential to opt for early detection. This will avoid suffering and also save money.

1.	Hormone Replacement Therapy

The use of hormones to treat aging is increasingly becoming popular. Many anti-aging physicians recommend hormone replacement therapy (HRT). It has also been proven that HRT is very effective, especially for individuals of above the age of fifty and who are suffering from an imbalance in hormone levels. The fundamental behind this decrease in hormone levels is due to the fact that our control systems break down over-time. A basic part of the system is our brain our endocrine system, which is responsible for the monitoring and regulation of hormones present in our body.

Due to some unknown weird reasons, the system turns into an imbalance state as we go into our 40s and 50s. The outcome is that the supply of hormones begins to continual decrease and some might even stop prevailing in the circulation of our body. The intervention strategy that medical science is proposing is to establish a methodology to turn these hormones back to preferred levels. This is achieved by manually regulating and controlling our hormonal levels.

For women, the major concern with HRT is estrogen. It is suggested that estrogen can increase the likelihood that one obtain cancer. However, for different cancers such as breast cancer, the association of estrogen and cancer has been extremely exaggerated. In reality, no scientific data proves that “natural” estrogen has any relation in increasing the potential risk of cancer. It is only “synthetic” estrogen that has shown signs of severe health problems.

However, natural estrogen has a multiple of positive effects on aging women. The death toll for women is normally distributed as follows; 50 % die from heart disease and a bit less than 10 percent from breast cancer. The interesting fact is that pre-menopausal women do not usually suffer from heart attacks. It has been shown that natural estrogen is protective against most forms of heart diseases as well as osteoporosis. In summary, if you are a woman, the probability that you will die from heart attack or breast cancer is 50 percent and 10 percent, respectively.

Now, for men, there is again very little hard data that proves that testosterone leads to prostate cancer. There are even studies that have shown that testosterone protects one against prostate cancer. However, the problem of prostate cancer is a bit more complex. There are two types of prostate cancer and one is negatively affected by testosterone while the other one is neutral on it. This means that if ever you make a blood test and find out that your testosterone levels are below normal instead of going directly for HRT test one should first conduct a prostate cancer test (PSA test or digital Rectal Exam).

DHEA

The most widely heard hormones that are supplemented for women are progesterone and estrogen. In men, testosterone is the most common one. Otherwise, growth hormones are popular for both men and women. Besides, these hormones, most people suffer from a decrease in hormones like DHEA and melatonin. DHEA plays a fundamental role in replacing and renewing tissues. It has also been shown that a low of DHEA tends to negatively affect our immune system, metabolism and cardiovascular health. It is ordinary that DHEA levels fall by roughly 80 to 85 percent as one reaches the age of 70.

It is easy to increase your DHEA level. Drug supplements are available at most health food stores. The recommended dosage does, however, vary on an individual to individual basis. The possible negative consequences of hormone replacement are outweighed by their potential benefits. Some of the benefits are healthier skin, hair, muscle, immune system function and also a stronger active sex drive.

The incorporation of a convenient hormone replacement therapy should be done under the supervision of an expert anti-aging physician. It is essential to test the actual hormone levels before starting to consume hormone supplements. An abundance of particular hormones have similar effect to as having a scarcity of them. The idea of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) is to restore the system to a balance.

Do not buy From Snake-oil Salesmen

When it comes to hormone drugs, it is critical to purchase supplements with proven records. There are many snake-oil salesmen who sell human growth hormone drugs that are totally unproven. Anti-aging drugs should be bought from reliable sources and preferably based on suggestions by experts in anti-aging.

Hormone Replacement Therapy – A Cure for Depression

There are many who view aging as a miserable era in once lifespan. However, even the death of a close friend or relative can lead to similar feelings. Life does for many turn grumpy after a terrible accident or after the death of a loved one. It takes years or some people might never recover from such tragedies. On the other side, there are those who cling back to normal life very easily. They might suffer an equally agony, but they escape the long trap of depression. The difference attitudes are likely to have it answers in hormone levels.

Anti-aging physicians do already know that a decline in hormone levels tends to trigger loss of appetite, depression and eventually a decreased will to live. However, the whole vicious circle can be reversed through hormone replacement therapy. Facts are at least projecting the possibility. So people should see an anti-aging specialist before they endure depression. It is similar to any other disease; if it is identified too late, it might be difficult to reverse the situation. Some good examples are cancer and heart disease, which do not really have any golden treatments.

An Old Saying That is True – Prevention is better than Cure

There are various anti-aging clinics that are being established in the world. There are also increasingly more medical practitioners specialising in anti-aging medicine. It is a fact that some doctors are better than others. So, it is necessary to find the right anti-aging specialists. Some clues and recommendations have been provided via the links below:
