There has since long been sensational news supporting that sex is good for health. The major reason for these benefits is associated with penile-vaginal intercourse. The results can be substantial; it can avoid some types of cancers, decrease blood pressure and even promote longevity.
Recently according to CNN sources, a Yoga instructor (Sadie Nardini) and her husband, a professional photographer decided to have sex every consecutive day for a whole month to overcome negative lifestyles such as chocolates, cigarettes. According to them, it did not only help them to overcome negative lifestyles but also to feel healthier. It avoided flue, promoted body energy and facilitated sleep.
The couple considered the trial, astounding so that they extended it for another month. Research has already proven that frequent sex can prolong lifespan by reducing risk of cancer and promote a healthier heart. For men, an active sex life will assure healthier sperm and eventually sexually active women do not suffer from severe menopause symptoms.
However, to make it clear, frequent sex does not necessarily mean every day. It can be defined as three times per week or for some once per month. It is certain that it lowers risk of heart attack, prostate cancer and breast cancer.
Dr. Irwin Goldstein, editor-in chief of Journal of Sexual Medicine and director of sexual medicine at Alvarado hospital in San Diego, California, says that there are tremendous physical benefits of having sex.
Over years of research on sex and health, it has been concluded that penile-vaginal intercourse accounts for most of the benefits and not any other variety of sexual activities according to Stuart Brody.
Brody, Professor of Psychology at the University of the West of Scotland performed a test on people who were to deliver a stressful speech to a malevolent audience. Parameters such as level of stress hormones and blood pressure where verified. It was found that people having had sexual intercourse within the two foregone weeks had a lower level of stress hormone and blood pressure. Yet, individual who had performed other types of sexual activities did not experience these positive benefits.
According to Brody, who said, “Evolution strongly rewards behaviors that increase the likelihood of successful gene propagation, and only one behavior…” The penile-vaginal intercourse can promote reproductive in contrast to other types of sexual activities.
However, according to another research Beverly Whipple, it is not sure that only one type of sexual behavior will lead to heartiness. In a 2003 entitled publication “The Health Benefits of Sexual Expression” it was undetermined whether sex made people healthier or that healthier people simply have more sex.
Whipple says that a clear cause-and effect relationship between health and sex hasn’t yet been established. Although the relationship is vague, the benefits of people having sex can be as follows:
1. Longevity
A study in Britain reported that men who had sexual intercourse twice a week did eventually have a longer life than men who had sex less than one time per month. In America similar findings were identified whereas in Sweden a study of 70 year old men was conducted and it was found that men who stopped having sex at an early age usually died before 75 years of age.
None of the study showed that sex had any longevity aspects for women. In America, the North Carolina study found that women who enjoyed sex in contrast to those who did not lived longer.
2. A healthier heart
The British study also showed that people having sex more frequently than once per month had less risk of fatal coronary events and heart attack. The risk for the less frequent was twice as much.
3. Better blood pressure
Brody’s test showed that blood pressure remained relatively low even when in stressful environment. The Journal of biological Psychology wrote that sex tend to lower diastolic blood pressure.
4. Lower risk of breast cancer
A study conducted in France showed that the probability of attaining breast cancer was 3 times higher for those who have infrequent or non-vaginal intercourse in contrast to those who had regular intercourse.
5. Lower Risk of Prostate Cancer
A recent Minnesota study reported that men having had more than 3, 000 sexual intercourse had significantly less risk of prostate cancer. The underlining mechanism is still unclear. It is believed that intercourse helps to remove waste products in their semen causing better prostate functioning.
6. Slimmer Physical Health
In Germany, a study revealed that sex is a physical activity. Frequent sex can help to burn calories. Around 50 to 60 calories are burnt per sexual intercourse. Around 700 calories can be burnt by having sex 3 times a week for a month, which is tantamount to running seven miles.
7. Pain Relief
Sexual activities can alleviate suffering of migraines and back pain according to studies.
8. Better testosterone levels
A cohort of men who were treated for erectile dysfunction experienced a steady rise in testosterone levels when they had frequent sex aligned with their prescribed treatment. The more sex activities performed the higher was the level of testosterone.
9. Decreased level of menopause symptoms
Sexual activities control hormonal levels and thus menopause symptoms can be reduced. This was found on a study conducted on Nigerian women.
10. Health Semen
Men who had penile-vaginal intercourse had a higher level of semen and healthy sperm according to three experiments. Men involved in other types of sex activities had less vigorous sperm.
