Research Suggests: Elixir of Life Can Be Achieved But Not With Red Wine Alone

Earlier studies have concluded that resveratrol (red wine) consumed with vegetable products tended to increase longevity. It also lowered the risk of metabolic diseases associated to age.

A new study, involving mice suggest that scientists’ over-emphasis on resveratrol as being the only source providing the longevity benefit. A belief that might be wrong.

It is already two decades since the so famous ‘French Paradox’ revealed that consumption of red wine in moderate volumes lowered the risk of coronary heart disease. It was also concluded, that the only factor contributing to fewer heart diseases cases was resveratrol, a key substance found in red wine.

Despite resveratrol being only one of the manifold phenolic substances in wines that are known to be linked to improvement to vascular function, it has been considered as the key factor for longevity and good healthy. Not only wine but alcohol itself consumed in moderate amounts seems to have various benefits against heart diseases.

The elaborate studies done on resveratrol has all shown that resveratrol and related substances consumed in high doses do lower risk of metabolic disease associated with aging and also augment longevity.

Reviewers of the study do highly appreciate the conclusion, as other extensive scientific research has been over-emphasized on the role of resveratrol. It is likely that resveratrol and other substances provide the longevity benefits and not solely resveratrol.

Similarly, humans consuming resveratrol in various forms of diets and drinks will have an intake of a mixture of chemicals. In other words, it is the active mixture of the chemicals that provide the health and protective benefit against heart diseases.

So the ascribe belief that only one particular chemical present in wine or other plant products, will lead to better health, is most probably misleading.

Reviewers say that the research provides enlightenment on the way resveratrol operate together with other chemicals to address cardiovascular disease.

The revelation of more accurate information about the chemicals being really effective in improving human health, helps laboratories do develop drug mimicking the positive longevity and healthy benefit experienced by resveratrol and other chemicals.
