Mprize an initiative for Research On Longevity

Methuselah Foundation has settled the Mprize, which is geared to improve understanding and possibilities of extending the life span of human beings. The Mprize supports Methuselah Foundations’s mission of prolonging human life span. Its correlative support is achieved by attracting the brightest scientists on the planet in research on longevity.

There are at the moment two cash prizes that are awarded. One for enabling a mouse to go beyond previously record ages and the second cash prize is for the group of scientists that will produce the best late-onset rejuvenation. Moreover, there aren’t any barriers in science; winners in the past have already proven that life can be extended significantly. The prominent findings that are derived from prizewinners are creeping normalcy towards human longevity.

Prize awarding the best strategy

Recent results from the so-called competition have shown that a valuable prize is the best initiative to make science fiction a reality. The most astounding outcomes have been achieved through offering a valuable recognition, a prize.

It is evident that, lucrative prices act as an additional encouragement for research in a particular field. It also widens the opinion of possibilities while ensuring finance and other resources as a repercussion of a successful research. The general effect of crowding intelligences of human kind together brings a new dimension and perception to the ‘impossible’.

A Prize achieved from something regarded as impossible, is provocative to its assumption. This gives scientist a stronger reason to challenge assumption of making ‘aging’ a scientific and manipulative element of lifespan.

Mprize awarded for research in Mice but Why

Research is usually performed on mice. This is a generally trend based on the fact that humans have strong genetic likenesses to mice, and besides the animal is easy to handle with a low cost and small in size. In other words, it is the ideal prototype for scientific experiments, having a DNA corresponding to 99%, and eventually sharing a range of disease with humans. The DNA similarity gives scientist reliable sources to understand and forecast functions of humans by reverting to the DNA of mice.

Mice has since long been used as a hallmark to develop medicine. Laboratories have scientifically given mice a prominent role in the advancement in health care, longevity, immortality and other biosciences progress.

The Mprize is worth millions. There are already scientists scattered around the world that are striving for the conquest of the prize. In their battle against odds for the multi-million dollar prize, it is essential that constant support and encouragement are provided by society.
