There are various talks on how to really succeed to live up to an advanced age. There are those who pretend that supplement and antioxidants are the reasons for flamboyant statistics. The most remarkable thing is that it appears to be true.
1. Supplements for Longevity
There are weak evidences signifying that hormones such as (HGH =Human Growth Hormone) or supplements will really make you livelonger. Preliminarily findings are saying that most supplements are safe to consume in small quantities and might in reality prove to prolong lifespan.
2. Antioxidants
There are many who say that the longevity secret lies in a high intake of antioxidants. The quantity of antioxidant that our body requires to live longer is unknown. It might be appropriate to take a reasonable amount if you are taking them in the form of capsules. Some antioxidants that are known for increasing lifespan are:
i. Acetyl-l-carnitine – vital nutrients
ii. Lipoic Acid – vital nutrients
iii. Carnosine – helps to rejuvenate senescent cells and therefore extend lifespan of the culture of cells.
iv. Resveratrol – can be found in grapes and in wine. Moreover, wine is rich in polyphenols.
v. Royal Jelly
vi. Vitamin D supplementation – For those who lack this vital vitamin
3. Life expectancy and Longevity Statistics
The life expectancy of person does in simple terms mean, that a person born today, day X, is expected to live X years, assuming the trends remain the same.
The National Center for Health Statistics is providing positive news for Longevity in the U.S. They report that lifespan of American adults is extending. There are also fewer deaths from infancy and the life expectancy gap between with and black American is narrowing down. A decade ago, in 2000, life expectancy was a record high with men at birth having a possibility to live to 74.1 years and for women to 79.5 years. A century ago, life expectancy was around 48 and 51 for men and women respectively. Moreover, most of the adults in America who are of age 65 might live to their 80s and as usually for women a bit more to around 84 years.
Recent, 2009 once again life expectancy in U.S is peaking to new heights. Despite, America’s great effort to have the highest per capita expenditure in the health care in the world, there more than 30 countries that enjoy a higher life expectancy than what they do. There life expectancy is in the lowest quadrant amidst the developed countries. They are below Spain, Cuba, Italy, Costa Rica, Chile and Slovenia.
The highest life expectancy is in Japan, topping at 83 years. The latest figure for United State in 2007 prescribes life expectancy to 78 years (77.9). In 2006, the life expectancy was 77.7 years. Life expectancy is rising increasingly at around 1.4 years per year. This positive soaring trend is unlikely to persist. There are already signs of stagnation. The rise in diabetes and obesity is mainly due to lousy diets and an unhealthy lifestyle, which does significantly lack exercise. The mortality rate might depressively decline or be stagnant.
Life expectancy of women and men has been creeping nearer to each other. For men it is 75.3 years and for women 80.4 years. The peak gap was in 1979 where the life expectancy gap between women and men was 7.8 years and in 2007, it was 5.1 years.
There are certainly several factors accounting for longevity figures. It can be antioxidants, supplements, lifestyle or simply overall health. No scientists know the secret for longevity. Eating an infinite amount of antioxidants such as ‘blueberry’ are only suggestions that might help you to become a super-centenarian. It is still just a gambling game and if you go through the right coin your chance of living longer might gradually increase daily.
