Common Sense Crow’s Feet Treatments For Aging Skin

When we age, we get crow’s feet, unless we take some action to cover them up or treat them, they are inevitable – it is that simple. They have been called friendly lines, squint lines etc., but they appear over the years and for various reasons we are irked by them. Crow’s feet appear around the eyes, temple and cheek bone regions. The best way to handle crow’s feet is to avoid getting them in the first place. This does not mean you should remain expressionless for the better part of your life, just do some preventative care treatments prior to getting them.

For the most part, crow’s feet appear as fine lines but as we age, those lines become deeper creases and one morning you stare into the mirror and those fine lines have become noticeable wrinkles that do not fade as the day progresses.

The most effective measure you can take to reduce the impact of crow’s feet is to avoid squinting. No easy task as life stressors envelop our lives and our love of the sunlight means we spend time outdoors. When we flex the large muscles about the eyes we are initiating the major reason for getting these tiny wrinkles. When we continue to squeeze the muscles through continued use, the wrinkles will become more noticeable. The optimal way to avoid squinting is to wear your sunglasses as often as possible, even on overcast days.

There is also boatloads of evidence that the sun’s ultraviolet rays cause damage to your skins collagen which is sensitive to begin with. You should never miss applying a wide ranging sunscreen variety that thwarts UVA and UVB rays. The UVA rays are ultra violet light that causes wrinkles and it will shine through car windows unobstructed. Considering the amount of time spent behind the wheel of your car, that is plenty of time to develop crow’s feet.

It is not only the outdoor enthusiast who will eventually have crow’s feet. Most of us do not realize how often we squint over the course of a day. At work, if you are in a bright office, if possible sit with your back to the light. Computer monitors are notorious for overworking eyes causing squint reaction. Make sure your monitor has a glare screen or covering and that your prescription contacts or glasses are up to date.
You should never smoke in the first place but it has a damaging effect on the collagen but also smoking can irritate your eyes causing you to squint reflexively.

There is no reason to despair if you already have crow’s feet that look as if the bird itself walked on your face at creation. Even the worst of wrinkles can be improved upon. Crow’s feet specifically.

Beware the promises made by the Madison avenue types when it comes to their creams and serums for wrinkle eradication, few of them really ever deliver on their promises. Many companies ask you to spend copious amounts of money on antioxidant creams but antioxidant creams do not reverse wrinkles, they are preventative and there are far less expensive methods to do this.

Understand that wrinkles in general appear to be worse than they are when the skin is arid and the complexion is dreary. With this in mind, using any cream that moisturizes the skin will be an improvement. Your skin will begin to glow and your crow’s feet will start to look less severe, though the wrinkles will not be treated. Your moisturizer needs to be used each day for a two week period. This will be comparable to a salon therapy but you will have paid only a fraction of the cost and with virtually no effort.
Try a test. Using a digital camera, take before and after photos of yourself. The difference will be surprising and proof that a bit of moisturizing cream can make a difference on your wrinkles.

There is a particular skin compound that may be worth investing in and that is retinoids. A topical retinoid application aids in treating crow’s feet by stimulating fresh collagen regeneration within the skin. These can be found in over the counter preparations named retinol and can be accessed as potent prescription level creams like tretinoin or Renova©.

The absolute best method for treating crow’s feet is by using Botox®. The effect of Botox comes from the loosening of the obicularis orbis muscle. Since the muscle cannot be flexed your crow’s feet will not show. This does two things, new wrinkles ill not form and current wrinkles will be greatly diminished.

There are injectable fillers available that will plump the crow’s feet region, spreading the fine lineage and smoothing them. These work well on crow’s feet that remain after you relax your facial muscles and when used with Botox you get their highest and best utilization.

Finally, there are the surgical options like lasers and chemical peels which will improve crow’s feet by instigating new collagen development. If you go this route you need to remember that the fewer adverse reactions including redness and peeling, the less dramatic the results will be overall. Deep chemical treatments offer the best outcome but also come with higher adverse reaction risks. They can mean a recovery period of up to a week or more to heal your facial features, you will need time away from work.
