Nicholas Agar, who is a bio-ethicist from New Zealand, says that longevity institutes are inherently unethical if they are using healthy poor people as subjects for testing.

For instance, it is really easy to entice people suffering from aging diseases into experimental medical trials. People suffering from Alzheimer’s disease are well aware that their illness is serious and that there is no specific cure available – the experimental drugs provided no guarantee – they can either make one worse or slightly alleviate the pathology.

Clinical trial on aging diseases is something that can bring great results, but there are high risks. In order words, it is easy to have someone sick to entice on human trials but will someone who is free of any aging disease be willing to participate in similar research; to find a drug for longevity (healthy aging) knowing that there might be lots of risk involved.

For instance, the famous bio-gerontologist, Aubrey de Grey, suggest that it is possible to avoid cancer by putting an end to telomere shortening; Telomeres acts as protective ends to our chromosomes and do shorten during cell division. As cells continue to divide the telomere does steadily get shorter until a point that cells can no longer divide, and turn into a state of senescent. It has been believed that telomere shortening has evolved as an evolutionary way to prevent the emergence of cancerous cells. Apparently, most of the cancer cells tend to stimulate genes that increase the length of telomere and thereafter tumors starts to populate. In fact, Agar is very positive about Aubrey De Grey’s theoretical explanation, but he also says that he would definitely not want to be the first one to undergo human trials, after mice and monkey experiments.

The SENS [Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence] project interest different group of people, yet clinical trials have diverse risks. Elders who are healthy wouldn’t sign-in for clinical trials when it is possible to pay other people to carry out the dirty testing. In addition, there won’t be only one ‘cure’ for aging. Currently, multiple researches are addressing various age-related damages. In the struggle to find some cures, there will definitely be a dozen of failures.

In all medical researches, it is essential to conduct as many human trials as possible. SENS suggest that soon people will be able to live healthy up to an advance age.

In the future, will the poor become the susceptible to human trials? Maybe or maybe not. Accordingly, to Agar, it is certain that extensive animal models will be used before testing on humans – still the risk is highly present. Bio-informatics enterprises need to seriously evaluate how anti-aging interventions will affect the population.

Actually, Agar’s objections are somehow outdated as telomere treatment as a cure to increase longevity is already being realized. Regulating telomere length via different pathways is curing cancers. In addition, if Aubrey de Grey’s hypothesis is right than curing cancer will even lead to longer lifespan. Treating cancer with telomere therapies might help people to live longer and healthier.

In 2010, a Harvard report found that increasing the length of telomeres in mice can significantly increase the lifespan. According to Agar, the next step in telomere research will be to involve elders who are poor. This seems, to be a fallacy indeed, as rich people seem more enthusiastic in paying and extending their own lifespan. Currently, rich people are purchasing TA-65 a drug to increase the length of telomeres.

Recently Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council financed a group of researchers that discovered that the impact of aging in mouse eyes could be reduced with the consumption of Vitamin D. They also found out the Vitamin D proved to be very beneficial in the improvement of sight in older mice.

These researches are hoping that this might imply that the consumption of Vitamin D supplements will prove to be a simple yet effective way to fight against the diseases caused due to the aging of the eyes in people. One such disease is the macular degeneration.

The group of researchers where from the Institute of Ophthalmology at University College London. The journal Neurobiology of Ageing has recently published the report.

The explanation given by the team leader, Professor Glen Jeffery, is as such: The retina, a layer of tissue, can be found in mammals like the mice and humans. It is positioned at the back of their eyes. The retina is very crucial in the seeing process. It is the cells of the retina that identifies light when it comes in the eyes. It then sends the brain messages and as a consequence we are able to see. This process is a very demanding one. In fact the retina consumes proportionally much more energy as compared to other tissues in the human body. Blood circulation needs therefore to be at its best there.

Nevertheless, as one age, this demand of high energy leads to a production of debris. Consequently, in animals, a gradual inflammation can be seen. While in human beings, this can produce a decline reaching 30% in the quantity of cells that are receptive to light that found in the eye when we reach out 70th birthday. As a result we have a poorer sight.

The research that was carried out showed that if there was an intake of Vitamin D for merely six weeks, the inflammation in the old mice decreased. A partial removal of the debris was also observed. Subsequently, based on tests done, there was an improvement in the vision of the mice.

In accordance to the researchers this improvement in the sight of the mice can be linked to two changes that took place. In the first instance, there was a significant reduction in the quantity of macrophages, a potentially destructive cell, in the eyes those mice which were provided the Vitamin D.

Macrophages have a crucial role to play in our immune system. Their work consists in fighting off infections. On the other hand, due to aging, they can become dangerous in their fight against threats. As such, they can become the cause of damage as well as inflammation.

The reduction in the quantity of macrophages in the mice eyes was not the sole consequence of the Vitamin D. The latter even prompted the outstanding macrophages to alter to a new configuration. Instead of causing damage to the eyes, the researchers believe that in their different configuration the macrophages have dynamically worked to decrease the inflammation and clean up the debris.

The other change that the researchers witnessed in the mice eyes which were provided with the Vitamin D was that there was a decrease in the deposit of amyloid beta. Amyloid beta is a toxic molecule that amasses as one grows old. In human beings, the inflammation and amassing of amyloid beta can contribute to an augmented threat of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). AMD is biggest reason of blindness in persons that are above 50 years old in developed countries. Based on the results of their research, the researchers are of view that the intake of Vitamin D supplements might prove to be the simplest way to help in the prevention of AMD in persons who are exposed to it.

Professor Jeffery stated that older mice that were provided with the Vitamin D, it was seen that the amyloid beta deposited less in the mice eyes. The latter also showed a related amelioration of sight. While some persons believe that amyloid beta is associated with the Alzheimer’s disease, this new research implies that Vitamin D may have an important role in the reduction in its growth in the brain. Therefore, when the researchers witnessed this impact in the eyes, they at once started to wonder where these deposits could be reduced as well.

Thus, the group of researchers led by Professor Jeffery continued to study a number of blood vessels of those mice. They discovered that the growth of amyloid beta, in the mice blood vessels as well as aorta, were considerably less in mice which were provided with the Vitamin D supplements.

Furthermore Professor Jeffery added that this discovery, that the deposits of amyloid were less in mice which were provided with the Vitamin D supplements, implies that Vitamin D may be used in the prevention of health pathologies that are related to aging, ranging from the deterioration of vision to heart diseases.

Professor Jeffery considers that this connection between a series of age-related pathologies and Vitamin D may be associated with our progressive history. For the majority of history, our predecessors have spent their lives in Africa, possibly without any piece of clothing, and were as a result exposed to strong sunshine all throughout the year.

This constant exposure might have possibly activated the production of Vitamin D in their skin. Man has since then shifted to less sun-drenched regions of the globe and quite recently accepted clothing as part of their lifestyle. As a result they may not be so well positioned to decrease their exposure to sunlight.

Moreover, developed countries have witnessed a great increase regarding life expectancy of people during the last few centuries. As a result, there is a tendency to associate the reduction of exposure to sunlight, that is Vitamin D, with a remarkably prolonged lifespan.

Professor Jeffery further clarified that before the researchers are able to confidently say that senior people should start the intake of Vitamin D supplements, they should firstly run complete clinical trials in man. There is nonetheless growing proofs that the majority of the citizens in the West have Vitamin D deficiency and that this may have considerable health consequences.

The Chief Executive of BBSRC, Professor Douglas Kell, advanced that there are many persons in the developed countries who are currently enjoying an unparalleled extended lifespan. However, long life does not necessarily imply good health. Several times, it is noticed that many of the senior people suffer from several illnesses as many of their body parts begin to show sign of malfunctioning.

Professor Douglas Kell proceed with his statement by adding that if one day researchers wish to have some hope that they will be able to make sure that a greater number of people are able to enjoy a productive and healthy retirement, they must therefore start to learn much more regarding the changes that occur in animals as they age.

This study has shown the extent to which an in-depth study of a mere body part may lead scientist to find out new knowledge which is more generally applicable. Through the study of basic biology of a single organ, scientists and researchers may start to make connections between several illnesses with the expectation to develop more precautionary strategies.

Want to know whether you will celebrate your 100th birthday? Recent tests can now predict.

In accordance to scientists, there now exist a test that can genetically predict if a person will be able to reach his 100th birthday.

Researchers of Yale University and Boston University Schools of Public Health and Medicine, Boston Medical Center, IRCCS Multimedica found in Milan in Italy had undertaken this study. This research claims that, based on the age of the subject, it is able to forecast an outstanding lifespan with up to 80% of accuracy.

According to this research, centenarians are role models of aging healthily, for the start of disability in such persons is in most cases delayed till they have reached their mid-90s.

Due to the fact that an extraordinary prolonged lifespan can run powerfully in families as well as because several studies on animals have implied that strong genes have an impact on an extended lifespan, the scientists embark on their journey to establish which are those genetic variants that have a strong role to play in man survival after his 100 years.

The research discovered that subjects who had common profile of deviation for genetic markers seem to share comparable degrees of threat for different traits or illnesses linked with outstanding longevity.

Individuals sharing such genetic characteristics may look forward to enjoy longer lives. The research may moreover provide an explanation as to why living more than 100 years old seems to run in the blood.

The findings of this study are the amended version of the work that was initially published the previous year in Science. The first version was withdrawn voluntarily. The most recent version comprises of data from very old individuals, with a mean age of 107.

An associate professor of medicine, Thomas Perls, of the Boston University School of Medicine, portrayed the results of the study as being a constructive move towards significant predictive medicine as well as personal genomics.

He advanced that when researchers are able to so this type of analysis on a complete genome series for traits which have considerable genetic mechanisms, the predictive significance should be much more.

Dr Perls went on to say that more in-depth research regarding such genetic traits could provide a profound understanding of the biological and genetic sources of postponing or avoiding age-related illnesses and thus attaining an extended lifespan.

This novel methodology regarding genetic data is applicable to several other complicated inherited characteristics. Researchers are now hoping that other research teams to apply these approaches to their fact and figures.

People are delighted to see 2011 fading away, with great optimism that 2012 will be a very good year.

According to a survey carried out by an Associated Press-GfK, it was revealed that 62 percent of the participants were optimistic about 2012, and 78 percent were highly optimistic of the New Year. This is in-line with how most of us experience New Year’s Eve, very few of us emphasis on resolution; the focus is rather on the positive things that will happen in the upcoming year.

Nevertheless, New Year’s resolutions are often only temporary targets that fade away as days go by. On the other hand, optimism does really work; it helps to instill healthy behaviours that last.

A large study involving more than 100,000 women, found that women who were optimistic had a 9 percent lower risk of suffering from heart disease and the risk of dying from any other cause was also 14 percent less, as per the eight year follow-up of the study. Women who nurtured hostile thoughts had a 16 percent higher risk of dying of any disease, over the period of the study.

There are other similar studies that have revealed similar results. In one research, it was found that optimists have a 55 percent lower risk of dying from any cause as well as 23 percent less risk of dying from heart diseases in comparison to pessimistic people Elderly men who were optimistic were 50 percent less prone to heart disease in comparison to pessimistic people, this was revealed in a 15 years study. There are dozens of study suggesting that being optimistic does really help you to stay healthy.

Social scientists say that being optimistic help to foster healthy behaviours, yet there are some negative aspects associated. Optimists do often think positively when associating health risk. For instance, they assume that their sexual partner doesn’t have STDs. The optimist may frequently undergo medical check-up just because of the presence of the positive attitude of believing that he/she is healthy.

In addition, optimists do commonly look forward to positive outcomes, yet they tend to forget to execute action to realize such outcomes. This is why optimists need a wellness coach to facilitate in the implementation of a strong healthy plan, to achieve these positive outcomes.

Nonetheless, behavioural changes from being optimistic to pessimistic alter in face of various actions. For instance, someone can be optimistic when learning about healthy behaviours and thereafter fell pessimistic and frustrated when really implementing these healthy bahaviours. Maintaining the state of thought isn’t always easy.

So in order to categories, someone as being ‘An Optimistic Individual’ scientists associated it to a assertive goal-directed behaviour and tenacity. An optimist will constantly try to succeed irrespective of the hurdles that may prevail.

People have abandoned the Paleo diet for mass produced food and a sedentary lifestyle. The Paleo diet is also called the caveman diet or Paleolithic diet. In the Hunter-gatherers society, some 2 million years ago, humans consumed natural foods; fish, meat, vegetables, fruits, nuts and eggs. It was a diet low in carbohydrates and high in proteins and animal fats. In such a society, diabetes, cancer and heart disease is believed to have been rare. The modern diet and lifestyle give people exposure to modern diseases.

In fact, it is possible to avoid the usual aging-related disease by simply adopting a healthy lifestyle and diet. Yet, the modern society tempts us to consume junk food and beverages, which are unhealthy. In addition, unhealthy food seems to be cheaper due to the mass production approach used, involving even GM foods. For the economy mass production of food is a good thing, but the real price is being paid by downgraded human health.

Government intervention on the subject of healthy food is highly subjective and distorted. It seems that the state is more interested in poisoning us than curing the food industry.

Facts: Government Promote Unhealthy Food

If we look at the Modern American society, we see more people becoming obese, year on year. Diseases are also distressing younger adults and even in some cases affecting children. This applies to illness such as heart disease and diabetes, not to mention cancer. This is the real case scenario despite that people have more awareness on health than ever before.

In economic terms, it makes sense to subsidize unhealthy food. It will bring profit in various ways; first food becomes cheap, secondly people start falling sick and this is followed by a win-gain position for the medical industry.

Some Examples:

In the past FDA had considered walnuts as being an effective drug, but when Diamond food, Inc provided scientific evidence of the benefits of walnuts on their webpage. The company was forced to remove the information from their webpage, and if they didn’t they would be faced with risk of being out of business. At the same time, FDA permitted Frito Lay to post claims that deep fried carbohydrate-laden chips were healthy. In other words, the stronger your lobbyist is the more likely are you to promote your products.

On Life Extension Legislation, we can find some interesting facts on the support of these FDA legislation.

But we always have choice, Dr. Michael Rose suggests that a hunter-gatherer lifestyle can actually end aging. It helps to prevent most health predicaments; cancer, diabetes and heart disease.

According to a new research, sex seems to be an important determinant of longevity. In other words, Good Sex Can Increase your Life Expectancy.

A group of research from University of California, San Diego found that good sex can add up to a decade of life expectancy. Satisfying sex can help people in their 80’s to enjoy a high quality of life.

From Stein Institute for Research on Aging at the University of California, San Diego the researchers found that sexual satisfaction for elderly women was highly correlated to successful aging as well as highly quality of life.

This study was released online in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society. The report indicates that quality of life; successful aging and sexual satisfaction were strongly related even in age of 60 to 89 were women experience a decline in physical health.

In the research, 1,235 women who were involved in the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) was scrutinized. WHI has been a major research program sponsored by the National Institute of health since 2003, focusing on finding causes of disability, death, and levels of quality of life for above 160 thousands vigorous post-menopausal women.

In research, groups were stratified into various age groups:

- 60 to 69 years
- 70 to 79 years
- 80 to 89 years

The researchers found at the end of the study that 61 percent of the group aged 80 and above said they had a satisfied sex life.

This same study was given emphasis when published in Indian News, giving various indicators of how sexual life contributes to longevity.

A recent TNN report suggests that regular sex enhance the brain power as well as positive hormone levels of an individual. In addition, orgasm has positive effects to the immune system as well. It strengthens the infection-fighting cells by approximately 20 percent.

Surprisingly, when couple experience orgasms they should hug each other as it facilitate the excretion of oxytocin hormone, which is directly linked to life expectancy.

It is really fascinating, cuddling increase’s people’s longevity, and in addition, being in relation reduces the risk of depression and chronic diseases.

According to the research, cuddling can increase life expectancy by as much as seven years.

Besides, satisfied sex keeps you physically and mentally healthy. It enhances your heart, brain and several hormones.

Men who are involved in at least three or more times of physical relationship in a week have 50 percent less risk of stroke and heart attack.

At any age, sex induces endorphins, which make you feel good and therefore lower stress significantly.

So simply by establishing planned sex a couple can increase their longevity by 2 to more years. Generally, sex is restricted to only night hours, but this need not necessary be so. Couples should enjoy sex whenever they feel the moment is right.

In addition, healthy food is essential for an individual to be able to have an enhanced sexual performance, and therefore, healthy food is directly and indirectly linked to longevity.

If you aren’t used to practice exercise, than sex can help you to boost the blood circulation and to burn some calories. Good sex can provide the same benefit as regular exercises.

So the prescription for planned sex provides the same benefits as regular exercises; 20 minutes of active sex can augment your metabolism and burn 30 calories.

For the case, of women sex does also reduce the risk of osteoporosis problems. Apparently, middle-aged women who have sex weekly have as much as 100 percent stronger protection to bones (Oestrogen levels) in contrast to women who do not have regular sex.

So a balance diet can boost the endurance, and thereafter help to promote satisfied sex experienced, which are pleasurable and at the same time fun.

It is a great strategy to add another decade to your life expectancy; satisfied sex life.

In a wide range of mammals, caloric restriction has shown significant benefits in delaying or even preventing age-related diseases and aging. Yet, biologists have been struggling to provide a comprehensive explanation behind this magical formula. In a recent study conducted in Sweden, the one enzyme responsible for the health benefit of caloric restriction was revealed – details in Forum or Gizmag. However, an American research group has provided another insight into how calorie restriction works by altering the genes of fruit flies and thereby achieving a 50 percent increase in their lifespan.

Results conducted on fruit flies have been positive. However, whether these results are applicable to long lived species such as humans is still under scrutiny. Let’s first have a better understanding of the fruit flies. It is specie, which has a tremendously short lifespan; from being an egg to become an adult takes only 7 days. The short lifespan of fruit flies have made them a standard prototype of longevity research both for physiology and genetics studies.

A dedicated research team from The University of California, Los Angeles and Salk Institute for Biological studies altered the genes of the intestinal stem cells of the fruit fly (Drosophila Melanogaster). These cells are called dPGC-1, a cell structure present in human’s DNA under the name of PGC-1. The change induced the fruit flies’ intestine with slower aging, and therefore, they enjoyed a 50 percent longer lifespan.

For both mammals and flies, PGC-1 gene cells are responsible for the control of various mitochondria presents in animal’s cells. The mitochondria is considered as being the power plant, as it is where fats and sugar from food are turned into energy used for cellular performance. Earlier studies had shown that calorie-restriction provided animals with more mitochondria. So the scientists made a test to understand what would happen if PGC-1 were given an even higher excess of mitochondria.

Genetic engineering methods were used to make the Fruit flies’ PGC-1 gene alike to organisms that were under calorie restriction diets. In other words, the volume of mitochondria and energy in cells were increased. The effect after increasing the speed of the stem and progenitor cells of the fruit flies’ intestine was that the intestinal tissues experienced a better response mechanism and therefore, cells became healthier as well as the fruit flies lived longer.

In correlation to the level of genetic engineering induced to the fruit flies, their lifespan was extended by 20 to 50 percent in comparison to a normal fruit fly.

The scientists suggest that the PGC-1 can act as a potential biological tool to delay aging, and it would be possible to develop drug and therapies targeting this age-brake. According to, the team, the theory is that when dPGC-1 was boosted with mitochondria, the stem cell was stimulated to energize intestinal tissues and therefore, ensuring healthier intestines for the fruit flies.

According to Leanne Jones who is an associate professor at Salk’s laboratory of Genetics as well as the lead researcher of the project, delaying aging of crucial single organ such as for the current experiment the intestine can have significant benefits on overall longevity and health. For example, in case of disease, it might be essential to emphasis on having particular organs healthy and in this case, PGC-1 might be the pathway.

The complete research is available in November’s Cell Metabolism and at University of California, Los Angles and Salk Institute for Biological Studies.

On realage.com, there is a tool known as cholesterol assessment that will help you to understand the risk of having high cholesterol. First of all, it should be noted that it is really dangerous as it increases the risk of heart diseases.

People need to know is what leads to high cholesterol and what can be done to reduce the cholesterol levels. Diets have a crucial role in the process of lowering cholesterol levels.

The Five best foods that should be consumed to reduce Cholesterol levels are:

1.	Oatmeal
2.	Omega 3 Fatty Acids – Fish
3.	Walnuts
4.	Oliver Oil
5.	Margarine

- High Fiber Foods like Oat Bran and Oatmeal

In oatmeal, there is soluble fiber, which can easily lower the intensity of low-density lipoprotein {LDL} or so called ‘bad’ cholesterol. It should also be noted that soluble fiber can be found in pears, barley, prunes, beans and kidney beans.

Consuming 10 grams of soluble fiber can significantly reduce the absorption of cholesterol, into an individual’s bloodstream, therefore, lowering LDL cholesterol. The consumption of one and half-cup of cooked oatmeal provides 6 grams of fiber. The consumption of fruits like able will increase the amount of fiber by 4 grams.

-	Omega-3 Fatty Acids – Fish

Fish is known to have a high volume of omega-3 fatty acid, which is good for the heart. It can lower the blood pressure and therefore, decreases the potential risk of having additional blood clots.

For people who have already experienced a heart attack – the consumption of fish oil can lower the potential risk of an instant death.

Doctors do generally recommend consuming two servings of fish per week.
The fish with the highest amount of omega-3 fatty acid is found in:

1.	Mackerel
2.	Lake trout
3.	Herring
4.	Sardines
5.	Albacore tuna
6.	Salmon
7.	Halibut

In addition, while cooking fish people should avoid putting in unhealthy fats. For those who do not like fish can get omega-3 fatty acids from canola and flaxseed oil.

-	Almonds, Walnuts as well as other types of nuts

Nuts help to decrease blood cholesterol. The density of polyunsaturated fatty acids in almonds and walnuts assures that blood vessels are healthy. The Food and Drug administration recommends the consumption of 42.5 grams of nuts per day. This includes all types of nuts, pistachio nuts, hazelnuts, pecans, pine nuts, almonds and walnuts, as they have properties, which decrease the risk of heart diseases.

Yet, the nuts shouldn’t be coated with sugar or salted –

Nuts are also rich in calories so one handful should be enough. Consuming too many nuts can lead to weight gaining.

-	Olive oil

There is strong evidence that olive oil, have special properties, which help to reduce ‘bad’ cholesterol, but it leaves ‘good’ cholesterol.

According to the Food and Drug Administration, two tablespoons of olive oil added to your diet will spur heart-healthy advantageous. It is common to add olive oil to vegetables, marinade, or even diets. For example, while basting meat; olive oil can be used instead of butter. However, do note that olive oil has a high amount of calories so do not consume too much, or else you will gain weight.

The best type of olive oil is the extra-virgin olive oil which is less processed and contains more heart-healthy antioxidants. It also has stronger cholesterol-reduction effects.

-	For Example Margarine – Food with plant sterols/stanols

There some foods that have this substance found in plants sterols and stanols which inhibits the absorption of cholesterols.

For instance, orange juice, margarines and yogurt drinks having added plant sterols can lower LDL cholesterol with above 10 percent. Daily at least 2 grams of plant sterols should be consumed, so a fortified orange juice with plant sterols a day would be an ideal power drink.

Plant sterols as well as stanols do not affect good cholesterol as well as triglycerides.

Lesson learnt
People should change both diet and lifestyle. It is essential to c food with high sources of high-density lipoprotein/ good cholesterol.

Typical antioxidants and dark chocolate are found in raw cacao. Consuming this source of fresh chocolate source of antioxidant contains:

1.	Oligomeric Procynanidins
2.	Resveratrol
3.	Polyphenols
4.	Catechin
5.	Epicatechin
6.	Vitamin C
7.	Omega 6 fatty acids – if heated it will turn into rancid and become a source of inflammation
8.	Phenethylamine – PEA a the neurotransimitter associated to love
9. Serotonin
10.	Tryptophan – A amino acid which people who consume cooked food usually lack.

Typical chocolate bars have some rather negative attirubtes such as causing diabetes, weight gain and cavities. These side-effects are commonly linked with the fillers used in the mixture of dark chocolate like sugar and diary. On the other hand, when chocolate is in its initial form (raw cocao beans, nibs and beans) the health benefits are weight loss ( coumarin and chromium initiate this effect), avoids cavities (Theobromine eliminates streptococci mutans one of the bacteria that produces tooth decay) as well as control blood sugar (done by chromium) which is is positive for diabetics. It should be noted that raw cacao has positive benefits to the the cardiovascular system as well.

One of the best sources of magnesium is cacao, and this is also known to be the mineral that is insufficient in modern diets. Magnesium has several benefits. It enhances peristalsis in the bowels, relaxes muscles and softens the cardiovascular system. In a series of studies, it has been proven that dark chocolate does dissolve plaques that are formed in the arteries. This process does literally help to avoid heart disease and does naturally regulate the blood pressure.

Dark chocolate does still have several health benefits but the intensity of antioxidants like chatechins, epichatehins, procyanidins and resveratrol are much higher in raw chocolate nibs.

Raw chocolate is the highest source of antioxidant amidst food available. In the list of other foods that are rich in antioxidants we have red wine, blueberries, and green tea. There are also spices and herbs such as cinnamon and chaga mushrooms that have a high level of antioxidant as well. Consuming varied type of antioxidants targets specific parts of the body.

Based on a phyto-chemical analysis of typical cacao beans; it is found that raw chocolate might be the most chemically complex food components on the planet. Unfortunately, in the cooking process antioxidants are degraded.

For Longevity in each diet the below component should be present:
1.	Anandamide – a neurotransmitter which activates feeling of ‘bliss’
2.	Serontonin – protects one against stress by inducing good feelings
3.	Dopamine – a neurotransmitter good for pleasure and motivation
4.	MAO Inhibitors – avoids side-effects of dopamine and serotonin
5.	Coumarin – regulates blood, acts as an appetite suppressant and contains anti-tumor properties.
6.	Asparaginase – An enzyme containing anti-leukemia attributes
7.	Ergosterol – a product of Vitamin D
8.	Sitosterol – Reduces LDL cholesterol

The compact intensity of nutrients in raw cacao supports proper functioning of the body. In addition, it is the best source of chromium and magnesium. Most human suffer from magnesium deficiency so raw cacao is an important ingredient to consume.

The list below shows other antioxidants in cacao:

1.	Vitamin A
2.	Vitamin B (1, 2, 3, 5 and 6)
3.	Vitamin C
4.	Magnesium
5.	Vitamin E
6.	Copper
7.	Manganese
8.	Calcium
9.	Zinc
10.	Iron
11.	Sulphur
12.	Phosphorus
13.	Chromium
14.	Omega 6 Fatty Acids
15.	Amino Acids
16.	Saturated Fats
17.	Carbohydrates
18.	Enzymes – such as lipase, catalyse and amylase
19.	Soluble fiber
20.	Phytonutrients

Well known dieticians such as Kerri-Ann Jennings, M.S., R.D., who is the associate Nutrition Editor from the EatingWell Magazine says that herbs and species don’t only add taste to food. In healthy diets, people should reduce sugars, slats and saturated food, but why not add up some spicy & health herbs.

Slowly progress in science research is finding the real benefits of spices and herbs. Apparently, herbs seem to be a strong protective attribute to various alarming diseases such as Alzheimer’s disease and cancer. Professor Bharat Aggarwal, Ph.D., from the University of Texas M.D says that modern science is finally being able to shed light on the reason why people have been using species and herbs for medication for millenniums.

In Aggrawal’s home-country India, there is a low risk of heart disease and cancer. This is associated with their extensive use of spices in various food menus. However, most of the Indians who have moved to a westernized eating pattern have experienced a higher incidence of these very same diseases. Apparently, when people eat less spicy food, they are deprived from the protective attributes provided by the herbs and spices. In other words, this explains why the Indian, who has adopted a westernized diet (defined as being fattier and meatier) is more prone to diseases.

The 8 healthiest herbs and Spices

1.	Chile Peppers – Boost Metabolism

Research has shown that the wanted heat of chilly tend to enhance our metabolism. Components known as capsaicin, chipotle and cayenne provide this fresh aspect of papers. Various research shows that capsaicin actually help the body to burn up calories (boost the metabolic rate). This equally helps the brain to stimulate chemicals to make us less hungry. A recent study found that people who ate hot spicy pepper tomato juice consumed 16 percent less calories. The second compound known as capsinoids, present in milder chile and also in sweet paprika reduces the risk of ulcers. It induces enhanced ability to the cells in the stomach to tackle infections and bacteria. It equally helps the heart to stay tuned by preventing LDL cholesterol from being converted into artery-clogging forms.

2.	Ginger – Help To reveal Upset Stomach / Fight Arthritis
Ginger has since long been observed as a relief to the stomach problem. Yet, Ginger does much more; it helps to reduce nausea and to heal our body after chemotherapy or surgery. A component full of inflammation-fighting properties like gingerols does even reduce the risk of cancer aches of osteoarthritis.

In a study, it was found that if people consumed ginger capsules for 11 days, they experienced 25 percent less muscle pain, after doing exercise.

3.	Cinnamon – Regulates Blood Sugar

Several studies have shown that adding only one to two teaspoons of cinnamon a day reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes. It helps the body to regulate blood sugar.

Modern science confirms that turmeric, with its compound curcumin is a proven antioxidant which has several anti-inflammatory abilities. Curcumin is used to relieve pain of injuries, arthritis as well as in dental procedures.

Turmeric, the goldenrod-colored spice, is used in India to help wounds heal (it’s applied as a paste); it’s also made into a tea to relieve colds and respiratory problems. Modern medicine confirms some solid-gold health benefits as well; most are associated with curcumin, a compound in turmeric that has potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Professor Bharat also mentioned that it contains anti-carcinogens properties.
