A Scientific Belief: Immortality within Two Decades

According to famous scientists and futurist Ray Kurzweil, humans will enjoy immortality within 20 years. He believes that the solution will be found in nano-technology, but currently we need to understand how our body really works.

Ray Kurzweil is in his 60s and believes that the incredible learning curve and progress in our comprehension of genes as well as development of new computer technology will soon make use immortal.

In theory, if our speed of development of nano-technology continues to progress at the same pace as today, then within 20 years, we will be able to replace most of our vital organs with technological substitutes.

Most scientists would claim that Mr. Kurzweil’s prediction is an extremely far-fetched one. However, nowadays, neural implants as well as artificial pancreases are already available.

You might have heard of the Mr. Kurzweil’s theory on the ‘Law of Accelerating Returns. He mentioned in the newspaper, The Sun, that many scientists believe that within approximately 20-year technologies to reprogramme our body will be available. This will help us to halt and afterward reverse the aging process. In the long-term, nano-technology will enable us to become immortal and live forever.

Our stone-age body will be positively re-engineered. For instance, our blood cells would be replaced by nano-bots, which would be able to execute the job extremely more effective. Ray Kurzweil says that it might even be possible for a man of the age of 85 years to run the Olympic sprint for 15 minutes, without the need to take a breath. People will even be able to go scuba-diving without the need of oxygen for at least four hours.

No more heart-attack victims, the presence of bionic hearts can reduce the jobs of doctors significantly, as blood bots will be available to keep people alive.

In addition, nano-technology will equally increase our mental capabilities, writing complete books within the day or hour will no longer be a mere illusion. We might become as effective as in the film ‘ Limitless’ but without the highlighted side-effects.

In a world where humans are known as cyborg, it will be possible to go into a virtual-reality mode. Our nanobots will be able to halt brain signal so that we can go deep into whatever we want; virtual sex, virtual world and any other virtual environment. We will even have holograms popping up in our brain to explain, translate and make things clear.

The new human will be a cyborg, with artificial organs and limbs.
