For as long as we can remember, we have already heard about tips on how to live a longer life: healthy eating, plenty of exercise, a wonderful marriage, religious faith and a cheerful and optimistic perspective in life.
However, recent findings came out proving these beliefs to be untrue. According to this report, hard work and the length of time, we work before we retire late in life are the crucial factors of longevity.
This new findings turned out to be surprising to a number of people.
Lamar Wright, a 71 year old Springfield retiree of 10 years, agrees to this research finding that late retirement may benefit longevity.
He expressed his belief in the findings since life is about doing things and without these, there would be an absence of life. Springfield’s Randy Haskins has the same view, he explained that there are people who don’t have much in their lives and so while they are working, they feel like they belong to something meaningful, which then gives them the motivation.
Dan Kinoy, a native of Winfield, Vermont who’s visiting Western Massachusetts, offered a different opinion. His belief does not challenge the findings; however, he is concerned that with the current worldwide economic situation, the public is no longer given the opportunity to prepare their own plans for retirement.
Kinoy continued, a growing number of people are now losing that privilege (work) since all the benefits are being trimmed down. So he believed that none of them will live a longer life.
From these latest findings, the secret to a long life is to work hard and retire later.
